The quickest way to get started
You can request an address change through myAadhaar using an Aadhaar-registered mobile number for OTP verification. Keep an accepted proof of address ready. UIDAI checks the evidence before approving the change. Official update guidance
Before opening the form, put your current Aadhaar and your address document side by side. Write down the exact change you need: house or flat number, street, locality, district, state and PIN code. This small preparation makes the final preview easier to check.
Your submission checklist
- Open myAadhaar yourself and sign in. Select the address-update service.
- Choose the document type that actually matches your proof. Review the current accepted-document list before uploading.
- Enter the address carefully. Read the English text and the local-language version separately.
- Upload a clear image of the original document. Keep all relevant edges, names and address details readable.
- Check the preview and the charge shown by UIDAI. Submit only when the details are right.
- Save the acknowledgement and request reference somewhere private.
Avoid photographs with glare, a thumb covering a line, or text cut off at the bottom. Open the uploaded file once yourself: if you have to guess a character, take a clearer picture.
If the document is not in your name
Do not select a document category simply because the file uploads successfully. Ask UIDAI which family-based route or alternative proof applies to your circumstances. A bill in a relative’s name needs a different approach from your own proof. Use the current supporting-document list as your starting point.
After you apply
A payment receipt is worth saving, but check that you also have a submission acknowledgement. Keep both together. Track the request through the official portal; if it is rejected, read the stated reason before submitting again. Once the address is approved, download a fresh e-Aadhaar and check every line.
